The Path of Eire:
Following a Path of Reconstructed Irish Polytheism

Essays and Rituals

Here, you will find some of my personal writings.  I have always enjoyed writing and putting my thoughts down on paper.  I welcome any comments and or constructive criticisms.

Some of these essays give valuable information regarding my personal "mindset" towards paganism in general, particularly the essay on polytheism and morality judgments.

I have also included various rituals that I have written.

Essays:

Imbas Forosnai Protocol

This essay looks at the practice of Imbas Forosnai, provides and discusses a ritual used for Imbas Forosnai.  It has been used by me, with
small groups of individuals acting, with positive results.  Please read the essay for more details.

Polytheism and Morality Judgments

This essay explores the concept of acceptance morality in polytheistic religions and compares it to the
universal law morality found in monotheistic religions and argues for the superiority of polytheism over
monotheism in terms of individual rights and personal freedom.

Tending to the Flame of Brighid: Reconstructing an Order of Flame Tenders from Pre-Christian Ireland

An essay discussing the problems of reconstructing an order of flame tenders devoted to the Goddess Brighid and how an order of flame
tenders might look if the principles of Celtic Reconstructionist Paganism were followed.

Rituals:

A Ritual Framework for Irish Polytheists

A ritual for Irish polytheists.  The ritual basically honors the three triads consisting of the deities, spirits of the land and ancestors and can
serve as a framework for major festivals or other "special  occasions".  This is the ritual that my household used for the major celebrations
before I started our local Celtic Reconstructionist Pagan group and began to celebrate the four major festivals with that group.  It is a fairly
time consuming ritual and is somewhat "scripted", so it may not be for everyone.  I personally have had very good results with it and have
also heard back from others who report similar results.  It is not a "magical" ritual which seeks for personal changes but is purely a ritual of
devotion and piety.  As such, if one is sensitive to it, one can feel the presence of many other individuals in the room during the course of this
             ritual.

Due to the length of this ritual, and the fact that the ritual format may not be for everyone, our local CR group does not use this ritual format for
its celebrations.  However, we have adapted parts of the ritual for use on the major festivals.

A Simple Rite of Daily Offerings for a Group

This is an adaptation of the Rite of Daily Offerings found below.  I use this rite when making offerings with my partner.

A Simple Rite of Daily Offerings for the Individual

This is the rite of offerings I use for making daily offerings.  I sometimes adapt it, but generally have the script memorized.  It is a very simple
rite and again is purely for the honoring of the deities, spirits and ancestors.

A Simple Imbolc Celebration in Honor of the Goddess Brighid

This is the first Imbolc celebration that I wrote for our local CR group.  We had very positive divinations at the end of the celebration and all of
            the participants had good experiences.

A Beltaine Rite

This is the first Beltaine celebration that I wrote for out local CR group.  We made a few adapations to it.  Instead of depositing the offerings in
flames, we took them and placed them in an outdoor shrine area that our group uses.  We had a few guests at this celebration and had
positive feedback from each of them.
