The Path of Eire:
Following a Path of Reconstructed Irish Polytheism

Welcome to my website!

I observe a religious path that seeks to reconstruct ways and practices which honor and show hospitality to the Deities of the pre-Christian people who inhabited the present day country of Ireland, to my ancestors and to the spirits of my land.

I do not pretend that I am an ancient or modern Celt nor do I believe that I am an authentic and true heir of a pre-Christian Celtic tradition.   I simply strive to develop practices which may reflect, to the best of the knowledge available to me,  the beliefs and practices of the pre-Christian Celtic speaking people who lived in the modern day country of Ireland and how these practices may have developed and become pertinent to our modern lives had they not died out.  I do this as a person of Irish descent living in the United States and not in a traditionally "Celtic" nation.  I reserve the term "Celt" for those individuals who are native speakers of one of the Celtic languages and were born and grew up in an area where one of those languages is still spoken.

I also do this as someone living in the 21st century and not in the Iron Age. Therefore, one of the key questions I always ask myself when attempting to recontruct a practice is whether or not it is something pertinent to myself and to others who live in the 21st century and not in an Iron Age Celtic Society.

For me, my spirituality is not  a recreational activity or hobby, but a genuine  desire to model one of many possible ways of bringing back the religious practices of our pre-Christian Irish ancestors and to make those practices applicable to modern times and lives.

The primary purpose of this website is to explain my practices and to assist other individuals in the task of developing their own practices by providing them with information and examples.   To that purpose, I am quite happy to guide individuals who, after having read this website, have a particular desire to model their household practices on my own.

While my private household practices are the heart of my spiritual life, however, my household is also part of a larger local organization called  "The Celtic Reconstructionist Polytheists of the Delaware Valley".  This organization now has its own website at:

 www.delawarevalleyceltic.org

The Celtic Reconstructionist Polytheists of the Delaware Valley was formed to serve as a community and networking organization for local households following any Celtic Reconstructionist or similar path and is independent of any particular household practices.

We meet for fellowship, study, and celebration on a monthly basis plus for the four major ancient Irish festivals.  Households in this organization are still autonomous when it comes to the larger group and each has its own deities, ancestors, spirits, culture from which it draws inspiration and other practices.

Please feel free to contact me for further information on either my practices:
